I finally had all the gear I wanted to try out my a7r as a macrophotography camera. My theory is that the combination of a 36MP sensor and no AA filter, would let me take sharp shots of a large size. A trip to Fairy Falls

A pair of dotterrels

The NZ dotterrel (or tuturiwhatu) is an endangered shore bird. Photography has to be done with care. In this case I was concealed behind a log in the beach, wearing clothes that would blend in to the sand. This, along with my 300mm f4 lens, allowed me to get quite a nice range of photos. With this shot, the closer dotterel is walking towards me.
